Advent Day 8: paint by number Christmas activity.
Advent Day 9: Christmas sleepover at Grandma's house.
Advent Day 10: Play with cousins at Grandma's house.
Advent day 8 was . . . usurped by my having an overwhelming need to check under the children's beds to see if they had been cleaning properly. I usually check every day, but have grown lax lately. Can I blame the pregnancy? I will. I will blame the pregnancy. Why not.
The children took advantage of my lack of attention to detail and cluttered up the underneaths of their beds with all sorts of things--including clothes. That always bugs me the most. So, they cleaned. All morning. And then Lindsay and Sterling came and took them away.
So on Monday, after they were safely back home, we still needed to do the activity for day 8. It worked out beautifully. The last craft we did for our fish unit required a lot of one-on-one help from Mom. While I helped one person with a fish, the other two painted. Amazingly enough, everyone finished everything at the same time. What a great morning!

Advent Day 11 also happened yesterday, as it was supposed to. We went to see Christmas Village in Ogden. I love going there. Eli was excited by everything, which made it more fun. Also, I felt special because a lady stopped me and said she was a huge fan of my homeschooling blog. She recognized Miriam and then looked around until she spotted me. I'm famous! Not quite, but she said she was excited to start an animal classification unit in January and was using all the ideas I posted on my blog. I'm useful, if not famous, and that is better. Unless money came along with fame. I wouldn't mind that so much.
We are still celebrating, and doing school, and dreaming of a white Christmas. Merry Christmas!
