I recently turned 32. This past Sunday, in fact, and I have decided that 32 is a lovely age if my birthday is a good indicator.
On Sunday, after church, we fed the kids and then I opened presents and ate chocolate cake. Timothy gave me a book I've been anxious to read and an expansion pack for Pandemic--the game I'm addicted to. Then Timothy and I put our offspring in their rooms to play while Mommy and Daddy napped. And nap we did. Really. It was lovely.
After napping, we fed the children and hung out. Then Timothy, as per my birthday request, pulled out his guitar and played us some tunes so we could dance around. Loved it. When we grew weary of our children's dancing exuberance we put them to bed. I love bedtime.
Lindsay and Sterling came over later and we played--I'll give you three guesses. Right! Pandemic! We even beat the game once. YAHOO!!! Then we played Dominion, another extremely addicting game. So addicting, in fact, that my dear sister and BIL didn't leave until around 2:00 am. Oh, my poor pregnant body the next morning, but man, it was fun!
The next day was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and since Timothy works on base, he had it off. YEAH!!! My birth day is such a great one. So, to continue celebrating, I left Timothy with the children and drove to Ikea where I purchased height extensions for all our Billy bookcases. I know--that wasn't in our budget. Hear me out before you judge! Last Saturday we took the kids to the aquarium and stopped at Ikea on our way home to buy the last of the Billy bookcases that will fit along our living room wall. We've been "building" this bookcase over several years and I wanted to clear out the new baby's room and possibly get rid of one or two bookcases in there, so we needed another bookcase somewhere else. Anyway, that bookcase was in our budget.
When we were at Ikea we found out that they were discontinuing the height extensions for the Billy bookcases. Imagine my panic. I tried to convince Timothy to buy them while still sounding like I cared about sticking to a budget--and that didn't work. So we went home without them. (We did go home, however, with lovely yellow curtains for Baby's room. YEAH!!)
When we got home, I called Ikea and found out that there were only 40 height extensions left in the store and when they were gone, they were gone. When Timothy heard that, he too became a little concerned. I mean, we've been building this bookcase for years and to not finish it off would be a huge bummer.
Long-winded story short, on Monday I went to Ikea and bought the height extensions. Yeah! Which blew our budget. Boo. Good thing I'm a working woman and can massage the numbers a little.
While I was there, I also got 8 storage boxes for the pictures I'll never get around to scrapbooking but will some day hand, nicely labeled and organized, to my offspring to do with what they want. Know thyself.
After Ikea, I continued on to Provo (what is with the roads between American Fork and Provo????) to drop off about 60,000 boxes/bags of hand-me-down stuff for Kami to go through. Kami and I didn't want to waste my trip, so we went to JoAnn's and got the paper Kami needed to make me this awesome mobile thing for Baby's room. $2.00 and Kami-cute. I'm thrilled to be the beneficiary of Kami's greatness--especially on the cheap. And to top it all off, Kami took me out to lunch. What a nice birthday present.
When I returned home, all the children were in bed so I was able to give them all a hug and kiss and move on to organizing my pictures and watching Timothy put the height extensions on our Billy Budd. There is something so darn hot about a man who knows his way around a bookcase. I've always thought so.
The BEST present of all though is when I was contemplating driving to Ikea and Provo and I said to Timothy, "I can't believe you drove to Provo every week from North Ogden to see me. It is such a long drive."
And Timothy said, "Now you know how much I loved you."
Aww.
(If that didn't melt your heart--he also cleaned pee out of the carpet for me so I wouldn't have to on my birthday. That's love.)

Happy Birthday to me! And Anders (11th), and Ethan (13th), and Mom (19th), and Dad and Wyatt (30th), and Megan (Feb. 4th), and Lindsay (Feb. 19th).
PS--Every year Dad calls me around this time and says, "Now is your birthday the 16th or 19th?" And I say, "Mine's the 16th, Mom's is the 19th." And Dad says, "Thank you," and hangs up. January can be a confusing month.

Happy Birthday!! I kindof forgot, but not entirely, because earlier in the month I made a chocolate cake and we sang happy birthday to everyone. And that includes you!

Happy Birthday!!! I don't remember those things, ever. Barely for my husband and mostly I do that out of guilt after I realized that my 10 y/o sister knew his birthday and I didn't.
