Miriam's Baptism

My crew.
Miriam on her big day.

Miriam with the worthy Priesthood holder that lives in my home. I'm so grateful.
We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

After the Baptism and confirmation we all went to a nearby park and played softball, kickball, and steal the flag. On the last play of the last game, Kam (Amy's beau) tried to evade Amy and slid right in front of me, causing me to try to jump over him without injuring him, thereby injuring myself. Ouch. Double ouch. A lot of ibuprofen and a good night's sleep later, and I was mostly recovered.

So worth it. We had such a great time.

After the park we went back to Mom's to open Baptism presents. I regret not having a picture of Miriam with her Great-grandma Marcielle Lewis, her Aunt Amelia, or her grandparents Young, who were also all there. I will know better for Cowen's Baptism.
Miriam opening her scripture case. She got a maroon quad with a matching maroon case and some scripture marking crayons from her Mom and Dad, a necklace and journal from Grandma Rasmussen, and a bracelet from Aunt Amy.

Some of the folks in attendance.
Lynnaea
Garrett with his scriptures. Speaking of pictures we SHOULD have taken--I don't have one pic of Garrett and Miriam together! Here the cousins (11 days apart--or is it 7??) have their Baptism day together and I don't even have a picture of them together. Grr.

Reading what Grandma Rasmussen wrote in the super adorable journal.
Eli was naked most of the day. He had a nasty, explosive sort of diaper incident and I didn't have spare clothes. No problem--the other team made Eli the mascot of my team and when Eli's diaper came off during the course of the afternoon several people made comments like unto, "Your mascot is having issues!" and "Your mascot gets better all the time!" I later found out that Kam asked Amy if she thought I was aware that Eli was naked, to which Amy said, "I don't know, I mostly just focus on my kids at these kinds of events."

It was a gorgeous day. I try not to envy Mom for where she lives but it's hard.
Garrett's first lesson from his new scriptures.

Cowen.
Isabel.
Ridiculously cute Lindsay Ann.
I know, not the best pic of me--but it is proof that I was there.
Devaney, Sebastian, Emeline, Leo, Kami, Lindsay, Lindsay Ann, Little Megan, Olivia, Headless George.

It was a lovely day and I was glad so many of Miriam's family members could attend. It was also really neat to have it with Garrett. Thanks everyone for coming!!!

There's nothing like a lot of family to help one celebrate their baptism day. Great post!

Congratulations Miriam. What a special day for you and your family.

Loved all the pictures and details. You are such a great writer Andrea.

By the way, how's your book publishing process going?
