Things I've Heard Today

We painted pumpkins today. Well, the kids did. I was making dinner. They had a great time and I had fun listening to them. Then I heard this:

Eli to Timothy: "Dad, look at my scary pumpkin. It so scary I go jump out of my seat and run away from my pumpkin!"

I've made artwork that scary too.

Later that night I was in a different room from the rest of the family and I heard this:

Timothy to Miriam: "What if there was a country called Outlandia and the people there were Outlandish."

Then Timothy chuckled, but Miriam did not. A few minutes later Miriam found me and said, "Mom, what if there was a country called Outlandia and the people there were Outlandish." Then she paused for a minute with a hopeful/confused/embarrassed look on her face and then she said, "It's a joke."

Are you sure?
