If anyone has $1800 lying around and wants to get me a present, I want the above painting. I'm not really a barn girl so much--more of an abstract art kind of gal--but when I walked into the Montgomery Lee art gallery in Park City and saw a large Jared Sanders painting right in front of me I was blown away.
The color is so rich and vivid and striking. It's just not the same looking at the pics online. I love art (looking at it--not creating it) but rarely do I find an artist that really pushes those buttons. You know what I'm talking about, when you see a painting that just zings you--like every time I look at my Rothko when I walk down the stairs. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it is like being in Big Cottonwood Canyon in September. Glorious to the soul, and all that.
Jared Sanders does that for me.
Another of my favorites. Don't you love the askew door?
The above pic is probably my second-favorite, but it is so hard to pick.
If you have a chance and live in Utah, go see his work in person. Amazing. The colors! I just can't describe it well enough.
Then go to the Kimball Center (Junction??) and look at the art done by Utah school kids. It will rock your socks off. I had Timothy take a bunch of pics with his cell phone so we could try some of it at home.
PS I also learned on this trip that I'm just not that into photography. We went to a gallery showcasing one of the best landscape photographers of all time and . . . no zing. The pics were pretty and visually interesting, but just didn't do anything for me.

Oh, I really like it. I would't ever buy it (given I had the money) because barns aren't my style either. But the first one you posted was amazing. Definitely my favorite out of the bunch. It really makes me laugh how similar our tastes are.
