Megan came over tonight with sushi, the best pineapple I've ever eaten, and some mango. She was doing a 24 hour shift at Davis and wanted some companionship. We played a mediocre game and chatted and it was nice.
The game is called "Wizard" but it's face cards with backs that say "Wizard."
Megan said, "You have face cards in your home?"
I said, "I didn't know about it until just now."
Timothy said, "Yes, we do."
Megan said, "Are there any actual statements from church leaders that say we shouldn't have face cards?"
Neither Timothy nor I knew the answer to that.
Then Megan said, "So is strip poker okay then?"
To which Timothy said, "It depends on who you're playing with, I guess."

LOL! You guys are hilarious.
Good question though. I should look it up and see. My parents never allowed them in our home....so we never do either.
Just a sec..I'll look and get back to ya...on that one..
Okay...here is what I found:
"We hope faithful Latter-day Saints will not use the playing cards which are used for gambling, either with or without the gambling. As for the gambling, in connection with horse racing or games or sports, we firmly discourage such things." President Spencer W. Kimball. General Conference 1974

Okay. Now I know where my parents got that quote from. They used it often. ; )
Thank you Lynn. I've always been curious what the actual words were regarding playing cards.
