baby names

My sis Kami has been talking a lot about baby names as her baby is due in about a month. I spent way too much time tonight looking at baby name websites and then my friend Amy posted her little sister's new baby's name (Kyleigh Christine), and I decided it was a sign. I needed to post about baby names.

First off, I won't be stealing Kyleigh because, while cute, it isn't old-fashioned enough to match my other girls.

My top girl names:
Harriet
Nell
Adele (I realize I can't have both Nell and Adele as they rhyme--of the two I like Nell best)
Bernice (would that be considered cruel and unusual to use that name on an actual child? Regardless, I LOVE it)

Top boy names:
Brigham John
Theo Wilford
Lorenzo Winston
Eli Mordecai

There you have it. Basically my names are a mix of my weirdness, my husband's weirdness, with a strong "I'm a history teacher" thrown in. I love Harriet because of Harriet Tubman (my daughter would get a biography of HT as a birth present), Winston after my historical hero--Winston Churchill, Mordecai because he was a ghost in the woods or in other words from a Sackett novel (Louis L'Amour), Wilford because both me and hubby have grandfathers with that name. The rest--we just like. Or, more accurately, I just like. When I ask my hubby what we should name the baby he always says the same thing: Withington Cheesemore. Thanks for your help, Timothy.

All good choices...of your girl names Harriet and Adele are my top two. I like Nell, too, but it's not my top pick because my in-laws dog is named Nell. For what it's worth, I do think Bernice would be cruel and unusual for a child. LOL!

I like Eli and Brigham the best out of the boy names. :)

see - I'm a sucker for tabitha and addelaide when it comes to old fashioned names - because the nicknames are what's really important - and tabby and addie are too cute. And honestly - I'm using Addelaide Lucia (well, not according to my husband) so I can have an addie lou - just got to have a girl name because boy names do not exist in my head - so I might have to steal your eli - sorry...good luck - becky

You can't have an Eli because Elijah is one of my top boys' names, now that I can't have a Benjamin, and so.....there!? Haahaa. I think Bernice is cruel and unusual punishment, and I think Harriet is almost as bad. I'm just glad we still don't have a Clementine in the family. It's all right though. Name the kids what you wish, I don't particularly like half my nieces and nephews names anyway!

I won't comment on any names. I had WAY too many comments when I was in the middle of choosing my kids names. Some of those comments brought me to tears ( I blame it on the hormones at the time) Not that my comments would bring you to tears.....Oh Dear.....that came out wrong. LOL!

I just won't be commenting on the names. However I will comment "picking your child's name is one of the best things( I think) to do while pregnant." Have fun with that!
