Miriam's birthday

I know, I know, I keep meaning to post pics of the backpacking trip, but there are so MANY pics to choose from that I am overwhelmed. Not to mention Timothy and I worked on bills tonight, so I am in general overwhelmed.

But Miriam's birthday was all she could have hoped of and more--I don't think she anticipated seeing the buffalo that live at my sister Megan's neighbor's house. It was pretty amazing to see their huge heads up close.

Cowen (no idea why underlining is occurring) riding his bike through the sprinklers.

Miriam's purple and pink tweety. We had to make him an academic looking tweety because we didn't like how outlining the eyes looked. I thought it ended up being a cute fix. Thanks for the cake pan, Amy! As a side note, Miriam really, really, really wanted a Peter Pan cake. I looked online everywhere and found out that the Peter Pan cake was made only briefly and is one of the rarest and hardest to get of the Wilton cake pans. Oh, you can get Tinkerbell and Captain Hook--but not the flying green guy.

Megan's and my kids gathered around for cake.

Miriam, being a little shy at so much attention.

Miriam with a collection of Dick and Jane stories. We thought she would like it because it is really long (150 + pages) but she could read all the words herself. She LOVED it, but it only took her a little over an hour to read. We definitely need to get more challenging reading material for that kid.

A super-duper pink camelbak mini-mule. Miriam LOVED it and all her cousins and siblings loved drinking out of it (except Emeline who is banned from camelbaks as she put a hole in two of Tim's mouthpieces), but we failed to realize how so much water would affect her. We had three emergency water breaks plus two accidents all on one short hour and half walk. Sigh.

However--she loved it and can't wait to go hiking again. Usually we go every Saturday morning, but this Saturday she has a primary party--so she'll have to wait another week to take her new pack on an official hike.

I can't believe how pretty she's getting. And so grown up. PS - how's the book? Deadline approaching? Deadline left in the dust? Pregnancy brain taking a break? Fill me in...lots of love and good wishes - becky

How ironic to get this comment on the day assigned to finish it.
