Like the title states: this post is about one of the biggest issues in life--hair. Specifically, whether or not I should chop mine. It is past my shoulders by a few inches right now, and I don't really like the in the middle lengths--so the choices are:
1) keep it long;
2) chop it extremely short
This is a picture of me and my baby brother Ethan a few months after I got married. Man, I was skinny, and man, I miss those shoes. PS--this isn't my favorite hairdo but I was trying to grow it out from inch long spikes, and I think I look cute in this picture, so I posted it. Example A of me with short hair.
Another random sidenote: Mom used to tell me that Ethan and I looked alike and that our hands are identical. I could always see the hands (they do look a lot alike) but in this picture I see a lot of resemblance between the two of us.
This is my favorite hair ever. Even better than spikes, and I really, really, really loved my spikes. This would be the goal if I chopped my hair.
By the by--this is a four generation shot. Miriam is a few days old (hence my face being a little puffy still), then me, my Mom (not her best picture--she's a babe and a half), and my mom's mom, Grandma Olive. It was less fuzzy but I messed with it to make it bigger so you could better evaluate the hair.
This has nothing to do with hair, but isn't it disturbing that Ethan could do this to his face??
How much chin should one kid have??
I don't have many pictures of me with long hair. This is about two months after Emeline was born, so getting close to two years ago. My hair is longer now.
The problem, as I see it, has several parts.
A) short hair has to be cut more often and therefore costs more money, even taking shampoo and conditioner usage into account. We have no money.
B) My whole life people have been telling me I look better with short hair, and it is hard to disbelieve them, even when my husband gushes about how pretty I am with my long hair. (Side note--he is the one who told me it was time to cut my hair--either he's tired of the fact that I almost never do it, or tired of my whining, or he really did have a change of opinion in that he now thinks I am equally pretty with long or short hair as he insisted was the case. I only grew it to please my man in the first place!)
C) My hair is such an incredible color (I won't even try to hide how vain I am about my hair color), that it seems criminal not to keep it long just to show off the color.
D) I REALLY miss being able to do my hair in three minutes flat.
E) When I look at pictures of myself with both long and short hair, it becomes pretty apparent that I'm not photogenic, therefore I refuse to believe I really look like I do in pictures. Therefore--the pictures don't help me make any sort of decision. However, I do like how my eyes look bigger when I have short hair. However, when I have a baby and have extra chubbiness in my face, I like how long hair hides that.
F) This is all too much for me.

okay - I'm voting for short. It is the definitive "andrea" hair-do and if money is a concern, just go buy one of those hair shaving/vacuum thingys. Besides, the short do highlights the red hair even more than the long - really puts a spot light on it...and if all else fails to sway you, just remember in 10 to 11 months when you have emeline crawling all over you with sticky hands and greedy fingers - trying her best to divert you from loving that beautiful new baby - and the other two kids are right in line after you and the thought of one more kid stroking/tugging/pulling/combing/loving your hair will make you insane and you'll throw the kids at your stud of a husband and race out to chop it all off...or scenario number two - the new babe will vomit in your hair around two in the morning - some morning in the near future - and you'll cut it off with fingernail clippers if you have to...just some thoughts - lots of love - becky
I'm voting for short too, and for you to do it EXACTLY like in the picture with Grandma every day because it's the COOLEST, SNAZZIEST, BEST hairdo. I think I wanted my hair to be like that when it was super short, but I didn't know how to do it right or something? Or maybe I didn't ever get QUITE short enough. Anyway.
Also, I think the ease of doing it every day will outweigh even the cost of upkeep. Plus it is fun to have a change. So, there's another short vote--since I know deep down you want to cut it anyway, and are just working yourself up to it. ;)
I also vote short, but I already told you that. I also vote for the pic with grandma. LOVE IT! I think it is cuter short, you will be happier, you will be sexier, and it will be worth the little extra money. I also think you could get away with not always keeping it an exact length, so therefore not have to cut it as often. Ya know, a little more like that lady in our Hyrum ward but not THAT long....but if you couldn't cut it right away, you could definitely pull the style a little longer. Thats all I'm trying to say. I'll get you the phone number for our hairdresser
oh the darn hair dillema! I am feeling the tug for short hair too, but also am not photogenic, and really don't like myself in my pictures with short hair. I like you with short hair, and long, but go short for summer, and ease, and it is very cute!
Me too! Count me in for shorter hair! You look great with long AND short hair. But shorter hair is the newest cutest and sassy look. It will be great for summer and easy to do .
