I had an eye appointment this morning so I got a babysitter and had the morning to myself! Among other things, that meant I listened to my favorite country station instead of the classical station me and the kids listen to when the kids are with me. Our cd and tape player broke and country songs have too much swearing these days, so we resorted to classical.
But when I am by myself, I like to listen to a little country.
Have you ever noticed that when you are totally happy with your man that nothing makes you feel more like being sweet to your honey than a good country love song. Even when I'm not pregnant, I cry more listening to country than any other kind of music.
Have you also noticed that when you are NOT totally happy with your man that nothing makes you even angrier with him than country love songs. You are listening away and suddenly find yourself thinking, "That fictional man absolutely ADORES his fictional woman and I just bet that if the songwriter had written another verse that we'd know that this fictional man HELPS WITH THE DISHES! I deserve a man like the fictional MAN in THIS SONG!" Irrational. Utterly strange--and yet, when I am irritated with my completely real, not fictional, man--nothing makes it worse faster than a beautiful country love song.
On the other hand, this morning I heard "Waiting on a Woman" for the first time (Brad Paisely's new one) and loved it. I don't really like Brad Paisley that much but I think that his real-life love story is so sweet that I have a soft spot for him. I also heard "If Something's Missing in your Life, Add a Girl to It." I'm completely making up these titles from the lyrics I remember, but I liked that one too. Not a love song, really, but fun.
Good thing I am 120% happy with my man these days so I could enjoy the music!

LOL! That is ALL SO true! Great post. I couldn't of said it any better. Now I am going to google those two songs you mentioned. Funny how that goes, eh?
I LOVE Brad Paisley and Waiting on a Woman makes me cry. It really reminds me of my in-laws, because my MIL is constantly late for things and my FIL is always waiting on her. :) Why don't you like Brad Paisley? We are seeing him in concert tomorrow. Well, I guess today, seeing as how it's 1:11 here. Yay! Haven't heard the other song. I will have to google it, too.
PS...what did you decide to do about your hair? :)
Amy, Brad Paisley has a ton of great songs (Whiskey Lullaby being one of my favs, The Dad He Didn't Have to Be, She's Everything I Need, and many others), but I don't love his voice. He's okay, but . . . maybe he's not twangy enough?? I don't know--my favorite country singer of this generation is Tim McGraw. My favorite of all time is Willie Nelson--I know, don't cringe. Love him. Love Johnny Cash. Love Kenny Rogers. Love Patsy. Love the Brad Paisley song with Dolly Parton singing backup. Love Dolly.
