Missed Me?

This post is pointless, so if you want to stop reading now, I won't be offended. In all honesty, I am only writing as a way to avoid doing the dishes. I just spent an hour and a half grading and that sucked all the happiness out of my body, so the dishes waiting patiently by the kitchen sink are more than my psyche can handle.

No Kayli, I didn't work on the book today.

However, at least all those dishes were used in creating and consuming a roast beef dinner with potatoes out of the garden and gravy and cucumbers out of the garden. And carrots--not out of the garden. I didn't plant any carrots. My mom thinks that's weird. We planted lots of soybeans. My mom thinks that's weird too. Obviously, the soybean craze passed her by. Love the little things myself with a little sea salt sprinkled on top.

If you saw the state of my garden you would be amazed that anything is growing. Lindsay Ann went to Canada for a few weeks, and quite logically did not help me with the garden during that time, and when she came back to check on it she shook her head in disgust. I couldn't blame her.

I bought a beef roast for the first time in my married life (I usually opt for pork as it is more tender), and I had forgotten what an INCREDIBLE flavor beef has. Or maybe I was just really hungry. Or maybe adding onion soup mix to any meat just makes it delicious. For whatever reason, dinner sure tasted good tonight.

Goodnight now, I am off to do the dishes. Really. Or not. I might just opt for bed. Don't tell mom.

LOL! Good night!

oh, wait...I remember now. How did you cook your soy beans? Steam? Fry? Boil? are they really that good? No carrots, eh?

I was getting worried. I was about a day away from calling and making sure you were okay. And in regards to your comment - scarily - I have a dishwasher and it was full as well as my counter...but to be honest - I was by hand most of the time because my dishwasher sucks so badly that I have to "wash" the dishes by hand before running them through. Did you notice my lovely brown stove in the picture? I have a matching sink as well. But they all still work and the tile is pink speckles - and aren't chocolate and pink in?! That makes it okay, right?! Alrighty, missed you and sending lots of love your way - hope you're doing okay.

Lynn, we buy soybeans frozen in their pods, microwave them for four minutes sprinkle on some sea salt, and enjoy. Love them--all my kids and hubby do too.

Becky--chocolate and pink!! You are so hip!

I DID miss you and, like Becky, was beginning to get a little worried! :) I LOVE soybeans with kosher salt, too. If you have a Kroger in UT, they have some that are in a steam microwave bag that are already shelled. Love that, because I am mostly lazy and anything that will save me a step is A-OK in my book! :)

your gravy came out of your garden? You will have to give me the seeds to grow gravy. Sounds yummy. Hahaa
