Morning sickness's last hurrah--by George!

Sunday was awful. Well, it was fun to go to church and watch people's mouths drop open when they saw my hair--but I was so nauseous. I even had to pick into the nursery kids' animal crackers. When we got home I felt pretty good after eating something, so I put together school for Miriam for the week (burning question--is putting together curriculum appropriate for Sunday???). Then I took a little nap with Tim. Don't you LOVE Sunday afternoon "naps." Highlight of my week.

Then I got up and morning sickness hit full force. I didn't even have time to realize that I'd let myself get too tired and too hungry, before I was bonding with my man, Mr. Toilet. I cooked dinner for the kids and ate a little bit, and then gave up and got in the bathtub.

Timothy, who really wins husband of the century, played a game with the kids and put them all to bed. So much for Family Home Evening. We needed it to--it was about appropriate Sacrament Meeting behavior. My kids need a refresher since I just banned crayons due to the incredible noise and mess involved (are anyone else's kids like that???), and Miriam and Cowen only get past editions of the Friend. It's been a hard adjustment so far. Emeline is still fine because she gets her beloved quiet book.

Point of story--Timothy took care of the kids while I tried to relax and let my stomach settle. I thought it worked great until I stood up. Then I found out otherwise.

Sigh. I keep telling myself this is morning sickness's last hurrah--I'm at 16 weeks for heaven's sake.

Enough whining--I need to go clean up the kitchen so I can make my husband his "thank you so much" spinach and steak pinwheel supper with beet greens from the garden and strawberries and cream for dessert. If you've never made steak pinwheels--I pity you. Steak, with bacon/spinach/parmesan cheese layered on top, rolled up and stuck with a toothpick and broiled in your oven to a nice medium rare. Ah--the beauty of it is hard to describe.

If I've never mentioned this before--I love food. Really, really LOVE food. However, I bought sun-dried tomatoes today to make my favorite chicken with artichoke hearts in a sun-dried/asiago cheese sauce (another recipe I stole from Olive Garden with heavenly results) and the sun-dried tomatoes were 6.59!!!! I'll never be able to make this recipe again at this rate!! That is 2.00 more than last time I bought them. Seriously, there is no way I can keep this family to a $200 a month food budget with food costs rising like they have. Unless we eat a lot more beans.

Oh well--I'm going to forget all that and start making my pinwheels. Happy day.

So sorry you are feeling sick. Can we see a pic of your hair? Maybe you already have one....I just got started on catching up. I will keep looking to see if you posted one.

Ditto, Lynn...we need recipes! :) I found a link on how to make your own sundried tomatoes:

Hopefully that works...since you have such a fabulous garden, I figure you could give it a shot! :)
