So, the last few days I've been having major angst with my hubby--but then this morning he smiled his incredible smile and miraculously, it all sort of disappeared.
The whole story is that this morning Timothy and I were discussing a friend who is having severe marital issues and I said that I thought she was holding her husband to an unrealistic standard and she is rather foolish as she thinks my Timothy and her own dad are "ideal/perfect husbands." I tried to convince her that while Timothy is wonderful, there is no such thing as an ideal husband. She didn't believe me. She also didn't believe me that she shouldn't compare her own husband to other husbands, as it wasn't fair.
So at breakfast this morning I was explaining all of this to Timothy and then I looked up and saw this funny expression on his face and this twinkle in his eye and I paused and said, "Maybe all wives do that, but it is easier to see it in other women."
Tim said, "How very astute of you." And then he smiled one of his breathtaking smiles--made even better by all his scruff-- and I felt silly and loved all at the same time. Ah, President Hinckley--how right you were when you said women have a tendency to make mountains out of molehills.
And while I'm thinking about ideal husbands, if you haven't seen the movie "An Ideal Husband" based on the Oscar Wilde play, you are totally missing out. One of my all-time favorites. I laugh my head off.

I had no clue Polly was dropping by. Was Coen his normal self or the creepy-just-like-Alma-in-public kid? He tends to pill the sullen Alma thing when people are new. And don't you love her kid's amazing hair?! Anyhoo - I hope you ribbed her about not getting going on the whole blog thing...I told her your "counter" is going to click over to 4 months soon. I really want her to do this and then I might actually get some cute pics of her kids every now and then. Plus - she's funny. Alrighty - good guess on the "wood thingy" - but wrong- hahahahaha (wicked laugh like in the wizard of oz) - I'll take pics and let you know by monday via blog - you'll like a lot. Okay - lots of love and best wishes and I need to call and have real voice conversations with you - give me a time and place when you can handle it and have the energy. - becky
LOL! Great post. We all can relate.
I guess I am missing out, cause I have not heard of that movie. Going to have to rent it. THanks for the review.
Hey Ands. Just letting you know that I am a dutiful sister and I do read your blog. Also, one of these nights when I'm desperate for a good dinner I'm gonna stop by with that book Summers At Court Auburn, so you can read it, because it is good....plus, a homemade dinner sounds heavenly.
