I decided Cowen must not have had too bad of a life so far. Last night we had crepes with fresh peaches, whipped cream, and crushed up cookies. Yum. Everyone finished and left the table except Cowen. I was in the kitchen rinsing dishes when Cowen said, "I'm eating all alone."
I said, "That's okay, buddy. You can finish."
Very glumly, he says, "No, if I'm alone I must be done."
So I went and sat by him so he could eat his last crepe. We believe in eating all meals together as a family, but I didn't realize that the kids had noticed.
As for the ultrasound today--not as happy as the first one. Apparently the placenta is in two parts (not unusual for me) at a roughly 60/40 split size-wise. The umbilical cord is attached to the smaller piece and the baby's growth has slowed down since the 20 week ultrasound (seven weeks ago). I don't know if that means my ravenous and constant eating isn't quite getting to Baby B, or if he was just on some sort of growth spurt at the 20 week, and now he's slowed down. The perinatologist (sp) is "concerned" because of Emeline's birthweight. But with Emeline I only gained 12 lbs the whole pregnancy and she had to be delivered two weeks early. Miriam and Cowen were both average weights. For those scientific types, the best I can explain the weight drop (I'm not a scientific type) is that at the 20 week ultrasound he was measuring big enough to have a Dec. 14 due date (two weeks early), and now he's under the 50th percentile for his due date. So still a healthy, normal weight-just not maintaining his earlier growth curve.
So--another ultrasound in 4 weeks or so. I'll keep you posted. Until then, I'll just keep enjoying feeling Baby B move around.

Is this pretty serious? How worried was the doctor? How worried am I for you? I'll cross all my toes and fingers and keep you in my prayers in the mean time...bb
Oh my. I will keep you and baby in my prayers as well.
I'm not sure how serious this is until I talk to my wonderful doctor who will probably say, "Don't worry about it until the next ultrasound." But, I will feel better once I talk to him. Right now, Baby B is at a very healthy weight, so I'm thinking positive. The next ultrasound will show us if he's still growing. That they're letting me wait four weeks between ultrasounds, I take as a good sign.
