I like walking backwards!

I've heard many suspicious statements as a mother. Usually along the lines of . . . "It wasn't me!" Today I heard the most suspicious thing yet. Miriam said to me, "Mom, I'm going to walk backwards, but I didn't have an accident!" Me, "Then why are you walking backwards?" Miriam, "Because I like walking backwards!" Hmm.

Yesterday at Grandma's, I tracked Miriam down to inquire after some missing bobbels (sp--hair things for those of you who are strictly elastic users). When I asked her about them she got this furtive look on her face and said, "I have power over the bobbels." Good--use that power to hand them to me.

I thought it was funny when Miriam came in and told me and Kayli a little bit about the game she was playing. I don't remember the details--something about being lost in the woods and what was she going to do now? (Kayli had a good suggestion--be nice to the forest animals and maybe they'll help you. Good thinking, Kate.) After she left I said to Kayli, "That's what I mean when I say Miriam at her most dramatic." Kayli said, "I understand now." Yes--you really have to see it to understand completely.
