Good things

Is there anything better in the world than standing outside the bathroom door, listening to your husband making quacking sounds while he bathes/plays with your baby?

There is definitely a lot of "daddy's girl" going on at this house. Tonight we had cheddar ham soup for supper and Emeline picked out all of her ham and then asked for "more soup please." I told her she had to eat everything else before she got more ham. Of course, being two, she wailed. But then she had a different, brilliant strategy and said, "Dad, more soup please, Daddy." When Dad told her no--oh, the intensity of her wailing. The acuteness of her hurt feelings. Daddy never, ever tells her no!

Is there anything better in the world than taking your three children on a walk around the block in beautiful, rainy, chilly fall weather?? There can't possibly be anything better than watching said children because a) Cowen was wearing his cowboy boots and a red cape over his coat; b) Miriam was wearing her play tights that she'd cut the feet off of to make into leggings, with socks over top and then runners (totally 80s, man), an ancient red dress, her green coat and winter mittens; and c) Emeline insisted on jumping off the curb numerous times, which resulted in her falling every time but she insisted--"I jump, Mom!" I love it when three inches is a huge distance and an incredible feat. So, so, so, so cute.

And the weather--it is just beyond fantastic into the realm of the magical.
