Cowen and Stitches

Two quick stories about Cowen. First, I was doing the dishes tonight and Cowen came and asked me if soldiers were "good." I told him, yes, soldiers are good. They fight to help us be free. "Why?" said Cowen. I said, "So nobody can boss us around all the time." To which Cowen responded, "Like Cinderella's stepmother?" Um, exactly. I love the way your brain works.

I just went to put another blanket on the kids, and I straightened out the problems with Cowen stealing the covers and kicking Miriam (just two more days and the kids will be back in their own rooms!!!!). When I went to leave Cowen said, "But there's no light coming in so I can't see what I'm doing." Right, buddy, that's the whole point.

Thanks to my Mom and Lindsay Ann and my friend Julie, the two bedrooms downstairs are almost done! Julie babysat my kids all day yesterday so I could help my Mom and Timothy paint. Then today, Lindsay Ann came over and watched the kids while Mom and Timothy and I painted. While she was babysitting, Lindsay Ann managed to clean most of my house. I swear that girl is amazing.

Mom and Tim and I had just about everything done by the time Lindsay Ann left at 4:30--despite Timothy taking a protracted break to get 8 stitches in his finger where he sliced himself with a knife. He was using the knife to cut away the paint tape in Miriam's room--unfortunately, the knife was also effective in slicing Tim. I saw Tim rummaging in the first aid kit and figured it must be a little grim when he wouldn't let me see it. He took himself off to the bathroom (flashback to several unfortunate mountain biking "incidents"--never a good sign when Tim takes to the bathroom to see to his wounds) and then came out and said he'd better go get stitches. He also said he'd never cut himself so deep. Too much information for me and Mom was annoyed he didn't show her the cut before he bandaged it! She's as pyscho as Megan.

Tim's painting chair rail right now and I am going to be grading papers here in a minute. Then I'm soaking in a hot tub. I can't believe how tired I am. But, it is worth every minute of soreness/tiredness to get those kids back downstairs!!!

You have a great family. Truly!!!

I think I would have passed out seeing a pic of Timothy's finger. Thanks for not posting. : D

I would totally have loved to see his wound...see, two kinds of people in the world. I can't imagine the relief you're going to feel when those kids finally get put back in their separate cells (though, now, nicely appointed cells)...and just about that time - brigham is going to arrive...I hope your bath goes well and you can relax a bit before getting back to work tomorrow. You're in my prayers. Becky

She's truly an ANGEL! Where can I clone the girl and have one of my own?!? I am just feelings so jealous right now! You truly inspire me that it CAN be done and you can have it all. You are the one and only person I know that seems to be that on top of everything! I am exceedingly astonished! You amaze me.
