It looks like Timothy is painting the basement tomorrow and Mom and sisters are returning Wednesday to finish cleaning, put up beds, that sort of thing. Mom is still very concerned about the dust content. Polly--any thoughts on how clean the air needs to be before it is safe for Eli? Everyone--any thoughts on how we can clean up the air?? Tim primed today and is painting tomorrow, so that should help. All the floors have been vacuumed three times with two different vacuums. We're thinking about getting them professionally cleaned. Can you rent an air filter?? Is there anything else we can do??
Tim and I have totally different views on interior design. I would like to whine extensively about that but I won't. Instead, I'll put my energies into effectively winning the current argument and all arguments hereafter about how my house will end up looking. He is far more stubborn than me, but I care more. I think. I hope.
On a different note--Mom and Dad and I were chatting about the day and what was left in my house and paint colors. I said I wanted white for right now and then a bright color on the bookshelves later on when Tim builds the bookshelves after he's passed his test (I told him he needs to quit building and start studying ASAP). Mom said she thought white would be sterile. Dad said, "Good thing--you wouldn't want little rooms popping up all over the place." Ha ha. His mind works in mysterious ways.

LOL! That definitely is your dad! : D
As for the air, I would really look into getting an air filter. After our reno's we were cleaning up dust forever. We put those floor vent filters in the floor vents (after getting our furnace and floor vents vacuumed out) and we were changing them almost every day. Including the furnace filter. The dust just kept coming out. Thank goodness for filters, though.
Anyway, I have no idea if you can rent one, but it certainly would be worth looking into. Good luck! So glad you have so much family near by to help you out. They are AWESOME!
A HEPPA filter (actually you probably need several) is your best bet. I have no idea if you can rent them. Lynn also made a good point- change filters regularly. Good Luck. We finally got some pawer back- yeah for electricity!
I've heard to also open all the vent work and vacuum it out - there's services for this and whatnot...so, that every time you turn on heat/air it won't blow it all over again...bb
ps - i hope you got the right box - lady at the mailing place was a little ditzy and a little to hands on...
