When I told my dad that we were naming our baby Eli, the first thing he said was, "Oh, you're naming him after the Three Dog Night song." No, Dad--didn't know Three Dog Night had a song about a guy named Eli. When I was staying at his house, Dad downloaded a portion of the song and then told me what they were saying (I was never a hard rock girl myself, although my children and I dance like maniacs to Credence Clearwater Revival--is that bad??). He and Mom had a good "flashback" together while I stood there wondering why 70s rock is so much more palatable than rock from my own teenage years. Is it just because I love watching my dad enjoy the music of his youth?? He was a MAJOR music-listening dude. He knew all the music from his adolescence, from all genres. Once we were doing the dishes together and I was playing some good ole Patsy, and Dad knew every word, despite his leanings being more toward CCR and Three Dog Night.
Anyway, tonight I checked on YouTube to see if anyone had posted Eli's Coming (the song). Since I am now seriously disturbed by what I have seen--I want you to join me in my disturbedness.
I'm not disturbed by the videos. I'm disturbed by how much I LOVE THE 70s!! I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to see Timothy in that pink ensemble, or the black/white striped pants. Sweet!! Then I could put on a snazzy dress and we could prowl the neighborhood in a beautiful olive green Mustang before returning home to our orange shag covered love nest. And to those of you who think I'm joking--you don't know me well.

That was great! I am so with you on that one.
You are lucky your dad is so knowledgeable about the music then. I was too young, and my parents were SO strict about NO music of the day in our house. I was so sheltered...I missed out on a lot!
I love to watch these old videos. Cool!
I really like the song actually, it might end up on my playlist.
