Curtains

So, I picked out material for curtains for the three windows in my living room/dining room space. I love the material. (Becky--I decided to do all three windows with the same material after your sage advice percolated for awhile.) Then I looked around online until I found the perfect curtain rod. You can see it here. Then I went looking around at different types of curtains and fell in love with these. This website made it look easy.

For those of you who sew--is it really as easy as it looks?? Because I can't sew. Not really. I mean, I can sew a straight line and I love to piece quilts as long as all the pieces are square or rectangular. I can't really sew. As I have often gotten myself in over my head with my bone-deep belief that I can do anything--only to come to the sad realization that I can't do anything well I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on grommet curtains. Or curtains in general. The other kind of curtain I like is the really plain one with no bunchy stuff at the top and you just fold your fabric over and sew a little pocket to slip the rod through and that's it. But these have to look good when I'm done. Timothy is being a doubting Thomas as to my ability and I have to prove him wrong. He mentioned something along the lines of "you'll whine the whole time about how much you hate sewing" among other things. Just wait, buddy. They are going to turn out PERFECTLY.

PS--the fabric I am using is this.

Hmmm.....you can't sew. Yet you will be attempting to sew.

I am TOTALLY impressed! No really! Seriously! I am.

I wish I was as brave as you. : S

Can't wait to see the finished project!

COuldnt you just fold the fabric over and then do the grommet things? (im assuming that grommet is a fancy name for circles?) Good luck! Can't wait to see the house!!

So I am doing the grommet thing in my family room. I just bought plain curtain panels from Target- about as cheap as buying the fabric and no sewing! I am adding the grommets myself and sewng on a ribbon border on the edges. I am sure there are cheap places to buy fabric where you are but for me the closest in in Reno and 3 hour drive is not worth the cost savings.
