Update

Life is just staying busy despite my optimism that it will slow down any day now. A week ago (last Monday) I went to Megan's and bottled peaches for our annual Peach Day. Megan, Mom, Lindsay Ann and I were in attendance as usual, and as a special treat, Kayli was there too.

Since my family goes through jam like you would not believe, Cowen and I spent all our spare time on Tuesday and Wednesday making seven batches of peach jam. Yum.

Also on Tuesday I gave up the fight to save money and went to Ogden to visit the chiropractor. Lindsay Ann watched my kids during my appointment and then I joined the crew for some serious bug studying.

First, we made ourselves some caterpillar buddies.

Then, due to Lindsay Ann's coolness, we decorated a caterpillar cookie with funky icing markers.

I can't remember what we did on Wednesday or Thursday but I'm sure it was cool and buggy. Or mountain-manny. Or something. On Friday we met Lindsay Ann and Julie to go on a hike on an old Indian trail. Good times had by all until I tried to start my van and it refused to cooperate. Lindsay Ann gave us a ride home. Fortunately, Timothy no longer commutes and he was home for lunch so I was able to take him to work and have the car to take Miriam to ballet (which she is still loving and still being obedient at--wonderful!!). That night, Timothy and I went to the temple and then to Target for some birthday present shopping for a certain little almost-three year old.

On Saturday morning I had my practice in Salt Lake (I'm singing at the Relief Society meeting this Saturday night at 6:00 mountain time and you can watch it at lds.org if you're interested in looking for me; if you are facing the choir I'm on the left hand side farthest left seat on the top row) and had to be at the stake center at 7:15 am, so Timothy took the kids to his mom's while he and his dad tried to figure out what was going on with the van.

Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, the van is still not fixed. Brett is looking at it today and if he can't figure it out then two things will happen: 1) Brett will lose his status as "official car guru in the family" and 2) Brett will tow the van to the experts.

Let's see, Sunday was the primary program (yes, the kids missed the Saturday practice because of the van) and the kids were great. Cowen said his part and made everyone laugh because of the cool way he talks. Miriam didn't say her part but she did go up to the pulpit this year. Last year she refused to do that so I think great progress has been made. Besides, the primary president confused her by asking her to read the part ahead of her own because a child was missing. Miriam didn't want to read the extra part and by the time that was all worked out, she'd turned shy. Still, she did awesome and sang like a champ and it was so nice to watch a primary program instead of leading the singing during the program.

After church, we took our Sunday nap, and then I had another singing practice so Timothy put the kids to bed.

Today, we didn't do anything that exciting for school except pick the bug poem we want to memorize, work on the choreography for Bee-Boppin' Bugs, and read about Kit Carson. He's pretty cool. Now I need to go put the potatoes on the stove, but at least I can do that knowing one thing has been checked off my list--catch up blog. Ta da!

ditto what Becky said- and could you and Becky move by me so we can do all this cool mountain-man, buggy stuff together. Kayli could move here too- but only after she lives in Switzerland because I am looking forward to having a "friend" in Switzerland
