Funny things

Miriam and I have had a very rough two weeks, so I wanted to do something nice for her. On Sunday, I pulled out my nail stuff and gave Miriam her very first manicure. She was delighted. She went to show her dad and he said, "How do you feel?"

Miriam's response: "Great! Like a 12 year-old!"

So then Emeline (and Cowen) wanted a manicure. We have a rule that you can't leave the table without asking to be excused so Emeline piped up: "Please can I be excused to get my nails done?" Hilarious.

Today was another rough day so I called Lindsay Ann in desperation and she agreed to come babysit me so I wouldn't do any further damage to my children or my children's pysche. I am SO GLAD Lindsay Ann has a vehicle again. Yeah, yeah, yeah! She helped me update some scrapbooking stuff (I use the term scrapbooking for putting glue on the back of a picture and sticking it in a book) and amuse my children, and make me laugh. But the ironic thing is that she probably feels amply compensated because I fed her green beans for supper. She's a weirdo like that. Thanks for saving the day, Lindsay Ann!!!

PS When you play charades with children, and one of those children is Cassidy, just remember that no matter what you tell her to act out she'll act out "unicorn." It's her groove. And she was groovin'.

PPS I'm pretty sure that Emeline has some real acting ability, clearly inherited from her father. I had her act out a growing flower and she was awesome! She started out crouched on the floor and then she moved her arms up slowly until she'd "grown" all the way. Totally rocked. She also did a mean frog.

PPPS It is entirely unclear who is the silliest between Hailey and Cowen. They are both prone to long bouts of giggling and serious silliness. Cassidy, though, outsillies them both. Now, a true competition would be who is the bigger ham: Ethne or Cassidy? Hmm.

PPPPS It would NOT be an interesting competition to see which grandchild had the most accidents. Since two of my children would be serious contenders, I propose that a chocolately consolation prize be sent to me immediately.
