In homeschooling news, we had our monthly Book Club meeting and celebrated all things monster. We read the book Beyond the Deep Woods which is a book about a boy who gets lost in the Deep Woods and almost dies every 15 pages. I quite like it. There are lots of fun monsters--like hover worms and termagent trolls. Fun, fun.
Look, the haircut she gave herself has almost reached chin length. Yeah! Maybe we'll be able put it in a ponytail soon and forgo the extra work required to pull back the short stuff.
We also made monster pizzas. This was all Julie's brilliant idea. I never would have thought of making a tortilla pizza, and in my head I was skeptical--but it was pretty tasty! And easy. And the kids LOVED it. I'm pretty snobby about my pizza sauce, too, but Julie brought some she'd bottled and it was fantastic. I plan on making some of my own this summer. Or, the summer after, actually, since I'm not growing a garden this year. But, man, it was yummy and so convenient.
Emeline's looks like a sweet little hair-bow sportin' monster--but don't be fooled. Those are actually ears. This monster means business.
In other homeschooling news, the weather is changing. And that means it is hard to concentrate on school. School was cancelled for several hours one day for a little burst of snow that the children had to play in. Then today, school was cancelled for a few more hours due to a rainstorm that was awesome. The kids stayed outside in that longer than I thought they would, but the freezing wind eventually drove them back inside. Concentrating after though, was pretty much impossible.
Coming up shortly--Cowen's birthday post!! My buddy explained to me this morning that he doesn't need to stand on the toilet to wash his hands anymore--he can reach the sink on his own. All because he is now five. Makes sense to me!
