Kami wanted to know more about the couch. Here you go.
I found it on ksl.com classifieds. It was leftover from an estate sale in the Avenues (SLC). It is a vinyl covered couch made sometime in the 60s, but the elderly couple that bought it put it downstairs and it was practically unused during the whole time they owned it. (Kami, you should have seen the blue loveseat they had in their front foyer--fancy schmancy.) It is in great condition, which is great. The big downside is that it is slippery so the kids have been sliding around on it. Teaching them to treat it nicely is going to be a battle. Sigh.
A big shout out to brother-in-law/uncle JARED!!! You are seriously awesome. Jared works in SL and has to make the drive almost every day. Today was his day off but he was still willing to drive his truck to SL to pick up the couch for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I'm pretty happy to have a couch.
PS The kids were all reading the Spiderwick Chronicles on the couch. It is one of their favorite series because Miriam likes to dabble at reading it (she knows it is scary so she won't commit to reading a whole book, but she reads short samplings all the time), Cowen knows the girl in it is a fencer so he loves finding all the pictures that depict sword fighting, and Emeline likes to look at the monsters. A great series for children of all ages. :)
PPS If I ever have to go anywhere ever again it will be too soon.
PPPS I gave my first ever cooking lesson yesterday. A few months ago we had a RS service auction and I donated a cooking class. My friend Brandi bought it, and she and another friend requested I teach them how to make some Chinese food. They specifically requested gyoza's because they'd had some I made for a party. So, we made gyozas, lettuce wraps, and spicy braised prawn (yum, heaven!). It took a long time (Asian cooking does that when you make more than one thing at a time), but we enjoyed ourselves and the food turned out heavenly. Good times. Good food.
