Our Saturday Evening Jaunt to the Riverside

On Saturday, we drove to Riverdale in an attempt to go on a family walk. We were quickly derailed by the allure of the river. That was fine, though, because family walk or family riverside adventures still translates to family time.

We saw the most beautiful german sheperd I've ever seen in my life. The owner said he imported the dog from Germany, and both the dog's parents were German german sheperds. Whatever. All I know is that it had the prettiest, most intelligent looking head I've ever seen on a dog. He was not, however, friendly to strangers, so my children were only allowed to pet the wussy rat dog.
Playing in the river.

Eli quickly discovered the delight of throwing rocks in the river. He couldn't manage to find his own rocks, however, so we gathered them and put them at his feet for him to "find."
THE FOLLOWING ARE TWO PICTORIAL ESSAYS. YOU WILL LIKE THEM.
One day, a baby--we'll call him Eli--was taken to a river. It was the first river he had ever seen and he was very curious.
When his mother realized that he would not leave the water alone, she shrugged her shoulders and allowed Eli to do what he would. So baby Eli felt the water.
The water was cold, but baby Eli didn't mind. He wondered what his mother would do if he went in further.
His mother did nothing because she had just purchased new runners for baby Eli so it didn't matter so much what he did to the old ones. Eli didn't know this. He thought he was a big boy. He was proud.
Proud, but also a little hesitant. He checked his surroundings to make sure someone would help him if he found himself in dire trouble.
Cautiously, he dabbled at playing in the water.
The water was cold and mom was nowhere in sight. Eli was beginning to think he didn't like standing in the river.
He decided to make one last, full-hearted effort to see if he really liked the river or if he really didn't like the river.
He really didn't like it!! Oh, what a pickle.

The next pictorial essay is called: The Angst of a Dry Sock and Wet Foot
What do you mean I have to put on my sock?? My foot is wet and my sock is dry! My life is so hard!!
This isn't going to work. My life is so hard!!
I told you this wouldn't work! My life is so hard!
Just because this one eventually went on doesn't mean the other one will. My life is so hard!!
