I just have to jot down two funny things Timothy said so when I'm 80 and reading through my blog books (yes, I print them off), I can laugh again.
When Mom and Dad were on a cruise, Timothy and I went to their house to hang out with Wyatt and Lindsay Ann. The saying, "While the cats away the mice will play," came to mind. We had a fantastic time. Friday night we played Apples to Apples. I'm sure you're all familiar with the game where one person lays down a card with a word, like energetic, and then everyone looks through the cards in their hands that include adjectives, nouns, and verbs, and put down a card that best matches the original word. Then the person who laid the first card picks which word matches the best.
Long explanation. Point of story is that I laid down the word "cosmic." Then Wyatt, Lindsay Ann and Timothy put down cards to match "cosmic." Lindsay Ann put down "my bedroom." I laughed, and, of course, picked it as the best match. My hubby then said, "In a sense, you could say I won that round." Hilarious.
Today I was hugging my husband when he came home for lunch and I told him that I was disturbed because I liked ramen noodles again and that is all I wanted to eat. I tried to tell him more things, but he was too busy saying "gross" like a broken record to listen. He ate leftovers, and then, right before he walked out the door, he noticed I'd brought up some packages of ramen. With a sad sigh he said, "I thought it was just an idle threat." Hee hee.
PS--Since Kayli mentioned that Talmage hardly speaks, I've been paying more attention to Eli's speech. He is gaining words at a very fast rate. Yesterday he said "book" and "hot." And crazily, when Timothy asked him a question, Eli said, "I don't know." Timothy and I looked at each other in complete amazement and debated for the next ten minutes if Eli had really said it and if he knew what it meant. Then today, Cowen was hiding under the bench during lunch because Miriam, the wizard, had made him disappear. Cowen kept saying, "You can't hear me," over and over. Then Eli pipes up, "I can hear you." Miriam and I looked at each other and said, "Did you just hear that???" I don't know if he was mimicking Cowen, or he knew what he was saying, but one thing is very clear--the boy is picking up English at a very fast pace right now.
PPS--Sometimes you forget to be silly. Parenting without silliness becomes very . . . painful . . . for all involved. Today, at lunch, I remembered to be silly. When I was pouring some milk into my cup, the milk ran out. I started to sob loudly. The kids paused, looked at me, started giggling, and then Miriam jumped up to get me another gallon. Eli stared, trying to figure out if I was seriously injured or just playing. It was funny. It was silly. It reminded me that parenting can be fun. I needed the reminder.

HA HA! I needed that last reminder. Good one.
Amazing about ELi's speech!!! Good thing you've recorded it.
Regarding my comment about the ramen noodles- I didn't say "demonic threat", I said, "idle threat". Demonic threat? That would be a really wacky thing to say...
Do you just copy and print your blog, or do you do it online?
