Hiking

 We didn't do as much hiking as I had wanted to this summer because August got ridiculously hot and I started canning like crazy (70 odd quarts of green beans alone), but back when it was springtimey and the weather was still nice and the garden still unsprouted--we hiked quite a bunch.  It was awesome.  Lindsay brought her camera along a few times, so all these pics I stole from her blog.

The first two pics are on the Kay's Creek Trail in Layton.  It is a paved trail through a marshland type area in the heart of town.  We love it there.

 The next bunch of pics are from Fernwood.  Fernwood is our go-to spot when we don't want to drive very far.  It is the closest trail to our house and you can go in two directions, linking up with the Bonneville Shoreline trail either way.

 This is not a pic of us hiking.  It is a pic of Lindsay and her cute family camping.  I think it was a Haw's family thing.  I just thought it was a really cute picture!

 These last two pictures are from one of my favorite trails.  I don't know what it is called but it is right behind the Bountiful temple and it is so nice and shady, plus there is one spot (see below) where the hillside opens up a bit and the kids can run around and play.  Very fun.  The lady in the yellow is a French-Canadian in my ward, Maude, who is my hiking buddy (and all-the-time buddy).  She has 4 boys with whom my kids love to play and she has a sweet baby girl.

In the background is a friend of Maude's who joined us for this hike.  She also taught several of my kids swimming lessons.  Sweet.

We plan on doing some fall hiking because I like hiking so much more when it isn't hot.  We'll see how my body holds up though.  Packing Harriet is heavy business!!!  Let alone packing Harriet and one of the unborn.  I shall try to not be a wimp.  Maybe I can channel Megan . . ..  :)
