High Tea at the Grand America Hotel

The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake has a fancy tea time.  Just the kind of thing little girls go crazy over.  My MIL planned an outing there with Frances Young, her daughter and daughter-in-law, her granddaughters, and her great-granddaughters (all the girls that live in the area and could make it).  Her niece, her niece's daughter, and her niece's two granddaughters also attended.  It was very fancy and very nice.
The youngest ladies all sat together at their own table, which made the moms nervous--without need.  The girls did great.  They were super fancy and super mannerly.  Emeline got mad when I tried to help her pick her drink because she and Miriam could do it on their own.
The hotel has a ridiculously expensive toy store in it.  We spent some time there after our meal.  Emeline fell in love with this mouse house.  $70 bucks for just the box.  Each mouse was $20.  That's mild compared to some of the other items in the store.  Beckie, my MIL, picked up a stuffed animal that was $120.  Sheesh.
Miriam loved the fabric dolls.  The toy store has a piano you can dance on and a little "tree house" with mushroom chairs.  It is very fun except you have that nervous feeling that your children will break something and you'll have to sell plasma for the next 50 years to pay for it.  Even so, it was a lovely time had by all.  Grandma Frances said, "We should do this every day," so I think she liked it.

Oh! That sounds so lovely!! What a dreamy afternoon those young ladies must have had. I bet they sent "correspondence" to their grandmother afterward thanking her for the wonderful luncheon. Those kinds of dates are the kind of memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Cheer cheer!!
