Eli on swimming in the ocean and Cowen on baby names

Emeline: "When we go to the ocean I'm going to go in a boat and find some dolphins and jump in the water and swim with them."

Eli: "Mom, are there sharks in the ocean?"

Mom: "Yes."

Eli to Emeline: "I think maybe you should just don't because there are sharks in the ocean."


Emeline combed her hair over her face and eyes this morning and showed me how cool she looked.  I told her she looked like a Beatle and she said, "I look like a bug?"  I said, "No, like a Beatle.  Don't you know who the Beatles are?"

It turned out she didn't know about the Beatles so the kids and I spent a happy 15 minutes on "culture studies" and watched a bunch of youtube videos of Beatle songs.  One of the videos showed a picture of the group with their names on it.  Cowen asked what their names were and then, when I told him, said very excitedly, "That's awesome!  Let's name our baby Ringo John!"

Yep, this baby naming season we're trying for a "Tribute to the Beatles" feel.
