Hiking on the brain

My cousin's wife, Amy, went on a few adventures with us this past fall--before I was too pregnant to move.  She sent me these pics awhile ago and I've been meaning to blog them and never got to it.  But lately I've been thinking a lot about hiking.  About Harriet old enough to walk on her own, about not being pregnant, about watching Patsy bound around like she has springs instead of legs.

I don't know why three feet of snow inspires me to contemplate hiking, but I'm not going to think too deeply about it.  Here's Kay Creek Trail from fall sometime.

 Miriam and Roe.
 Emeline and Roe.
 Lindsay and Ruth.
Miriam, Cowen, Roe, Eli, and someone back with Patsy.  Isaac, I think.
Isaac, Eli, Roe, and Patsy of the awesome ears.
Remember when Patsy was a puppy?  I don't.  Seems like ages ago.  Three years in May, to be exact.  She didn't even have a beard.
Now she has a beard and a definite flair for dancing.  And she hasn't escaped the back yard in almost two months.  Amazing what that does for my attitude towards her.  I love you, Patsy.  Always have.  Don't take it personally that I tried to get rid of you on ksl.  Just don't learn 30 new ways to break out of the backyard this summer, okay?  You're a real peach of a puppy.  Glad we had this talk.
