Then Timothy took the leftovers from the quilt and stapled them onto artist canvases. I have one more canvas but I haven't decided what color of fabric I want to put on it. Right now I'm leaning toward orange.
The quilt. It doesn't look as orange as I thought it would when it is in the crib. I'm tempted to try and find some orange crib sheets. I still need two crib sheets (the yellow ones I bought for Harriet are hammered and entirely the wrong color) but I can't decide what color to get. I went to Baby's R Us and I didn't think any of the colors were that great. Nothing was very bright but the neutral brown I was thinking of getting didn't really look that great either and I didn't like the other brown--it was too dark.
Then I bought these curtains from Target. I'm not in love with them. I think it is too much bright turquoise for me. It makes me think of Sesame Street or a shower curtain--just not quite what I was going for even though I am going for a "bright and colorful" feel overall.
At Target they have the same curtains in the perfect color of green and the perfect color of brown. I could get the green but then I thought it might be too much green with the change table mattress cover. I could get the brown and have my MIL make a valance. She already said she would. If I went that route what color should the valance be?
Mostly I want to paint vertical turquoise stripes (broad stripes) on the wall using the color that I adore that is already on my wall downstairs in the family room and call that good for turquoise.
So here's the questions:
1) paint turquoise stripes on the wall--yes or no
2) what color should the curtains be?
3) what color should the fabric be on the last canvas for the wall?
And no, I don't have to confer with my hubby about the wall paint. He told me a long time ago I could paint whenever I wanted and whatever color I wanted as long as I didn't expect help from him. That was a bargain and a half and I took it. Immediately.
Thanks for the input!!

I would not do brown curtains. I agree that you should paint, but if the curtains are too much turquoise, wouldn't stripes be too? What is the overall color you want to see? orange? green? I'd put up a patterned curtain and either paint the walls a solid color or leave them as is and put up more wall decorations. And think large scale-it'll look better than a lot of small things. I love the quilt and pad cover. Wish I were there to come see it. :)
I almost would do brown curtains. Or use the same brown fabric with the circles and diamonds in them. Just to have something neutral. You could even do a blue or green or orange valance. The stripes would be killer in the room!! Ah i want to go paint something now! I would add some more orange to the last canvas. Such fun colors!! Those are my 2 bits.
I actually like the curtains. I think that a brown valence, with a pattern would be cute at the top of the curtains. I wouldn't do green curtains, you already have enough green. But if you paint the walls turquoise, then I wouldn't keep the curtains the same color. If you did paint the walls, then I would keep a patterned orange and brown as your curtains and valence. Just a though. I really like the quilt and the paint things that Tim did. Very cute! So what's the baby's name?
p.s, you know that's not Justin. It's me Sara.
First of all, I'm very impressed that you are even doing a nursery. And you have made quilts for everyone. and CUTE ones! Wow. Sam painted the most awesome nurseries ever in our last two houses (cloud shapes at sunset, in one, and a full-on jungle, in the other) and since that's not happening here in the foreseeable future, I instead do NOTHING. Our babies sleep in the closet for the first 9 months and then . . . the ugly boring room with the other kids. Yay! Anyway, digression . . . I love your colors! I like the brown curtain idea with a patterned valance. Or an orange valance. And I love stripes on walls! I think if you made them not TOO extremely bright, they would look awesome.
