Harriet was a little unsure. She still is. She calls him "Baby Waaa" only the waa sound is very much a baby crying sound. It is rather loud and piercing and funny. She has watched me nurse numerous times now, which involves a great deal of my hissing and/or crying and that disturbs her. I try hard to be quiet and stoic and whatnot, but stoicism is not in my nature and the pain is awful. I described it for Timothy this way. Nursing feels like nails on a chalkboard sounds.
The point is that Harriet is disturbed by this every-two-hours ritual. She has seen milk come out and gets the idea and when I nurse she says, "Baby Waaa drink?" Then she opens her mouth like she wants to try it. Not happening, small person. If you want a taste you can have some in cup.
Still, she likes to watch all the baby things going on. She stood on a chair to watch me give Oskar a sponge bath and she likes to hand me his diapers when I change him. She gives him kisses occasionally but mostly she just looks at him with a slightly perplexed expression.
Miriam thinks Oskar is wonderful in every way. She is a huge help with everything, especially guarding the baby. It is really nice to have a child old enough to help this time around!
Miriam and Oskar have matching dimples in their chins. And matching red hair. Right now Oskar's hair is darker red than Miriam's, but we'll see what it looks like after the baby hair falls out and the new growth comes in. So check back with me in about a year. :)
Ah, Emeline, my little mother. She is in baby heaven right now and holds Oskar every chance she gets.
When Emeline is 12, she is going to be the best babysitter around.
Well, Oskar, those are your sisters. You're lucky to have them. They'll boss you around and make you wear dresses and hassle you a lot, but they'll be your cheerleading section your whole life.
