Funnies

Timothy played a new board game with the kids tonight while I made caramel popcorn.  It is called Escape: The Curse of the Temple and it has a sound track.  I kid you not.  You are Indiana Jones (not really, but that's the general idea) in a cursed temple and you have to get out.  The game only lasts ten minutes but it is very intense as you all cooperate to get everyone out before you are trapped and die.

The soundtrack is pretty foreboding and starts with this deep warning voice saying, "Escape."

Several of our children quit playing after awhile, declaring the game "too scary."

The highlight of the game for me was listening to the children discuss how scary the game was and Cowen saying, "I wouldn't want to play it at night."

To which statement Miriam responded in her perfectly artless, dramatic fashion, "Night is already upon us."

Hee hee.

Another funny.  While I finished up the caramel, Timothy came into the kitchen to sort out all the unpopped popcorn because he doesn't like kernels in his caramel.  The kids were waiting to play another game so within a minute or two we heard a child say, "Where did dad go?"

Timothy answered, "I'm in the kitchen helping Mom."

Eli, exasperated, said, "Then they're hugging or kissing."

I was instantly disappointed that we weren't hugging or kissing. What a waste of our time.

It was a lovely day all round.  We switched to 9:00 am church and I swear my personal angels were singing hallelujahs all day for me.  Timothy and I were both up at 6:00, I put the turkey in the oven (my first ever attempt at roasting a turkey--it was a little overcooked but the gravy was amazing), and together we had all the kids sitting in a pew by 8:50.

At 1:00 pm we were eating.

At 2:00 we were enjoying that blessed and sacred Sabbath activity--the Sunday afternoon nap.  I love 9:00 am church so much.  So very, very much.

After our naps we reconvened for games, popcorn, FHE and more games.  Did I mention how much I adore 9:00 am church?  Well, I love it.  What a great day.

HA ha. Funny you say how much you like church at 9:00 am. That's exactly what I thought I heard {hallelujah chorus} when our church started at 11:00 am today. ; D

Too funny. Life is so full of different perspectives, eh?

Your day, though did sound like a perfect one for your family. I'm glad.
