Random and AMAZING

I hesitate to write this story on my blog because I haven't had enough opportunities to tell it yet and I am so amazed by what has happened that I want to call every person I know and say, "Isn't this crazy and miraculous and amazing!!!"  Once I write the story on my blog, I won't be able to tell it as often.  However, I can't stand not sharing this story, so here goes.

Tonight I went to the new house with my father-in-law, Kenny.  Kenny agreed to do an unofficial inspection of the new house to see if there were any red flags that might justify spending the money for a professional inspector.  There weren't--but that has nothing to do with the story.  The owner of the house, Edna, was there to answer any questions we might have.  If was soon apparent that both Edna and I are chatty, friendly type people and almost immediately I was following her around the house while she told me about the 29 years she had lived in it.

At one point she said, "Where are you from?"  And I said, "I'm from Canada."  Edna said, "Me too!"  I said, "Really, whereabouts in Canada?"  She said, "Oh, all over Southern Alberta.  Raymond, Barnwell, Lethbridge, Cardston."  I said, "Me too!"

Then Edna said, "What's your maiden name?"

Me: "Rasmussen."

Edna: "Which Rasmussen?"

Me: "Lloyd and Mildred Rasmussen are my grandparents."  Then I said, "But my grandpa Lloyd remarried Ruth Rasmussen and she still lives in Cardston."

Edna: "Ruth Rasmussen is my aunt."

WHAT??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  My grandma (the only grandma I remember because grandma Mildred passed away when I was four) is her aunt!!!!!!!!!!!  I couldn't believe it.  Neither could she.  We had to hug and get all carried away.  Then she got teary-eyed and said that she loves her Aunt Ruth so much and that her whole family was so grateful to Lloyd Rasmussen for making Ruth so happy while he was alive.  (Grandma Ruth didn't have an easy time of it before Grandpa.)

THEN (yes, this story keeps getting better) she asked where the Young came in.  I said, "You might know my husband's grandparents as they live close to here.  Wilford and Frances Young."

Edna was stunned, "I'm selling my house to Wilford Young's grandson!!!"  Then she got all teary-eyed.  Apparently she knows Timothy's grandparents quite well and she and Grandpa had callings in the church that allowed them to work together.  She also hosted a Russian musician when Grandpa brought a youth orchestra to Utah from Russia for some performances in Salt Lake.

This is the best part.  Edna said that she had prayed and prayed that a good family would move into her home and love it and enjoy it and fill it with happiness and she knew that we were an answer to her prayers.

And her house is an answer to ours.

I am so grateful I met her last night and we could figure out all the ways our lives intertwine.   Besides, she's thrilled that red-heads are moving into her house (who wouldn't be) and that makes her  my instant friend.

PS I wrote this last night but didn't post until tonight after I'd called Kayli, Kami, Lindsay, and my mom.  I still need to tell a few more people in person.  :)
