Cowen had a birthday!!!!--March 1, 2017

I always find the best presents for Cowen at Smith and Edwards.  This was labeled as an ammunition belt.

A sketch pad with a fancy, Tolkienesque cover.  Not pictured is the quill pen and ink that he also received.

I feel bad about Cowen's "cake."  I wanted to try a recipe for a Twix Pie that was floating around facebook, but it wasn't that great.  It wasn't terrible, but he would have picked a coffee cake if I hadn't strongly urged him to give the pie a try.

The highlight of his birthday was us letting him light his own candles for the first time.  Silly boy.

A new face!!  I don't mean the one in the pie.  I mean the boy standing against the wall.  That's Nick.   We like him.  He lives up the street but he likes to hang out at our house.

Happy birthday, Cowen!!!  I don't know much about Cowen.  I think his favorite color is still red.  I think his favorite books are still Ranger's Apprentice (maybe Brotherband, maybe The Hobbit, maybe Ender's Game).  He loves to mountain bike, hike, read, and wrestle.  He's funny and hardworking, obedient and diligent.  I love you, Cowen!!!
