Hello

I love it when I pick Eli up and he pats my shoulder and says, "I have you." So, so, so cute.

Tonight for FHE, I was in charge of the lesson. It was about faith. In the gospel doctrines manual there is a chapter on faith and it says something along the lines that we need to trust Heavenly Father and Jesus enough to obey the commandments. This reminded me of a FHE from my childhood, when my mom had us all stand on the piano bench one at a time and fall backwards trusting that Dad was there and would catch us. I couldn't do it. Even though I knew he was the strongest man on earth, I still couldn't.

So tonight, to demonstrate trust, I had my kids do the same thing. I started with Emeline and she wouldn't fall back and started to cry. So then Miriam and Cowen did it, and after them Emeline. Eli also participated. They loved it. Good times.

I'm not sure what the point of the lesson was when Mom had us fall backwards, and I'm sure my children won't remember either--but hopefully they'll remember falling. Or that we had FHE every so often. Or that they belong to our family. Something.

So I am hoping that you will read this. I am reminding you that the annual Barney Family Christmas Party is this Saturday the 18th at 6:00 at Jon and Vicki's house in Harrisville.
We will be having dinner, games and a nativity program.
Will you please bring a green salad and a hymn book.
Also, Grandma Barney is getting married on the 22nd of December. I don't know if you already knew. You are invited to come to the ceremony at the Ogden Temple. We have to be there at 10:30, the ceremony is at 11:00. There is also a luncheon at Maddox at 2:00p.m. that same day. If you are going to go to that you need to call Grandma and let her know (801)690-6612. She will need to let Gene know so that they can plan on you in the count. Children are not invited, just adults.
