Eli had his blood drawn today. I cuddled him close and held onto his free arm while a really sweet nurse held the arm from which they were drawing blood. Then the lab person got his arm ready. I started to feel woozy before they even poked him.
He didn't even cry. He just watched, very interested in the blood going in the tube. He loved his fancy green bandage and his primary concern was whether this earned him another sucker.
And yet, it was still awful for me.
If any of my kids ever get really hurt, I hope Megan or Mom is around.
Thinking about when Derek pulled his impaled leg off the metal pole or Ethan's leg twisted to a grotesque angle from being stuck in a bike wheel is bad enough. But my own kids. I can't think about it.
Proud of my boy, though. He's tough.
