We give our kids an allowance once they turn 3. Today I gave out the allowances, helped kids pay tithing, etc., and they all begged to go to a store to spend their moula (sp).
I ended up taking Cowen, Emeline, and Eli to Toys-R-Us with me and Timothy took Miriam and Harriet to Lowe's (Miriam was in trouble for dawdling during her chores *surprise* so wasn't allowed to go to the toy store). Eli and Cowen learned pretty quick that they didn't have enough money for anything they wanted. This was Eli and Cowen's first allowance spending trip because Cowen spent all of last year saving up $50 to buy a mountain bike (we paid for half and he paid for the other half). Emeline is a veteran campaigner and held onto her money so she could get what she wanted next month, but Eli and Cowen decided to pool their resources to buy this pack of 4 little nerf guns that shoot three bullets apiece.
We brought the guns home and I opened the box and put in the bullets but couldn't figure out how to get it to shoot (I would have eventually), so I said to Timothy, "Do you know how to work these things?"
To which he replied, "Yes. I am a man."
Uh, right. You can prove it to me later tonight, big boy. I mean, man.

Too funny. :) Sorry I didn't comment before on your comment on my blog...I didn't even know it was there until a couple of days later and it's been pretty busy lately. Yes, I am alive and well. :) Still living with my parents, but started to put myself back out there into the dating world last September (which was a year after the beginning of our separation...we have been officially divorced now since March of 2011.) The kids are great, I am soooo much better off emotionally now that I am not in an extremely damaging to my self esteem marriage any longer, and things are looking up. :) Definitely work on giving yourself more charity and being less hard on yourself--you are an amazing, competent, strong woman who is doing the best you can do and succeeding wonderfully. Anyway, I will wrap this little book up. Good to hear from you and hope things are going great for you guys. :)
HA ha ha. Brett and I both laughed. Good one, Tim.
hee-hee-hee-hee...
