How I Met My Man

Yes, I am copying Kayli and Pioneer Woman and writing my love story. Although, truth be told, this is the whole reason I started this blog. I LOVE love stories, and my favorite one is . . . mine. But, I will probably be almost as annoying as PW in that it might take me awhile to finish. So, start now or wait until it is done. Life is full of choices.

Argh! This paper was a beast to write and I was not enjoying it. Fortunately, a computer lab has myriad possibilities for procrastination at your fingertips by way of the internet. For the fifteenth time in a half hour span, I checked my email. I wasn’t expecting any mail but it was a time filler and offered a distraction. I’d already taken two on-line personality tests and one IQ test, and my paper was only one page longer than it had been when I started two hours ago.

Yahoo.com here I come. I typed in my password, hit enter and waited. Two seconds later I grinned when I saw the “1 message” sign. Alright! I clicked on the inbox. And froze. My heart started pounding furiously and I could feel my face turn red. My fingers felt tingly and my mouth was dry. The email wasn’t from a sister, a friend, or spam central. No, it was from an ex. As in dumpee, terminated relationship, the boy I’d agonized about for long months. Okay, longer than long months. Timothy Young.

Breathing a little unsteadily I clicked on the message. It read: “Andrea, I just wanted to see if this was still your email address. Timothy”

Not much but I was completely freaked out. I read the message over and over, trying to see the shades and nuances. He sounded nervous—good—I was nervous too. But it was brave—I had broken his heart. I hadn’t wanted to and I broke my own in the process, but I had still done it. Finally, not able to do otherwise, I hit reply.

Andrea, that was far far too short. You're silly. You gotta give a little bit more than that. But it was good. :)

Don't worry--I'm working on it.

I thought it was great....especially since I was at the library, and using the internet as a procrastination tool! too bad the same thing won't happen to me.
