Cowboy

Cowen is pretty much in love with horses, and going to Grandpa Rasmussen's to see the didis, I mean horses, is pretty much his favorite activity.

On Sunday we took the kids to Megan's for Miriam's birthday (and saw buffaloes at the neighbors up CLOSE AND PERSONAL--which was cool), and while we were there Megan gave us some old cowboy boots that she thought might fit Miriam.

Only Miriam never had a chance to try them on. Cowen took one look, declared that they were his, and "too special" to share, and he's had them on his feet every minute since then until tonight at 8:14, when I told him he couldn't wear them to bed again. He had a small meltdown until I explained that he could still sleep with them--just not on his feet this time. He was okay with that.

While he was on his way downstairs, carrying his boots, I said, "Goodnight, Cowboy." He said back to me, "Goodnight, Cowgirl Mom."

Have to love that.

So cute! :) Your story reminded me of a cute story that I have heard from Sean's family over the years. Apparently, Sean was wearing a cowboy hat while he was at his aunt's house for dinner one night...he was maybe 5 or 6 years old. He was chewing his food with his mouth open and his aunt told him to close his mouth, that he was eating like a cow. Without missing a beat, he replied, "that's 'cause I am a cowBOY!" I thought that was very clever for a little kid! Hahaha! Goodnight, cowgirl mom!! :)
