Moroni came for the first day of school. He did a FANTASTIC job and the kids were riveted the whole time. It helped that he kept things short. He explained about the war in heaven and 1/3 of the hosts of heaven choosing Satan's plan to take away our agency. Then Moroni reminded the kids that they had chosen Heavenly Father's plan and liberty. He then said that he had had to fight for liberty on this continent. At that point he whipped out the Title of Liberty that Julie had made. Very effective.
Then he told them that this year in school they would be learning about men and women who fought for liberty in this country. (We're studying Colonial America.)
Then he ended with a rousing charge for all of us to continue the fight for liberty and agency.
This is Moroni giving my kids a Title of Liberty to put up in their house. Thanks for your help with that Lindsay Ann!!
These are the chore charts that the kids "finally" got to use on the first day of school. They LOVED them. Bizarre how a cool new hanging thing makes chores so much more fun!
The chore cards you can see are "brush your teeth," "dust" and "clean your bedroom." Emeline loves hers too. She only gets two chores--get dressed and brush your teeth.
Cowen's first day of school outfit. It was handy that there was a big storm and he actually needed to wear the sweater.
Emeline did not like it that I made her stay by the tree. I LOVE her pants. Thank you for the shirt Grandma Beckie!!
Miriam's first day of kindergarten. Thanks for the shirt Grandma Beckie!! I tried to get her to wear her purple corduroy pants, but she didn't want to. It reminded me of Mom trying to get me to wear pink and purple cords when I was in grade two and I would have NONE OF IT. Only bluejeans and cowboy shirts, thanks. The difference is Miriam loves her purple pants (she's happily wearing pink pants today), she just had something different in mind for that day.
And yes, I know her bows don't match, but she loves bows and my supply is running low. How can you lose one of each set??? And no, I will not make more no matter how easy you tell me it is. Just give me some for Christmas, okay.

That tree is amazing. So are you teaching that whole group or co teaching or what? You amaze me. I can deal with puking babies, and fevers all day but the thought of teaching my children terrifies me. I lack and patience and have very high expectations. I do think I am good at helping with homework as I have practiced that with Joseph.(who is in main stream 1st grade with and aid this year).
Looks like school is going to be fun at your house!
