In this picture we are making necklaces and bracelets to celebrate that Miriam finished chapter three in her kindergarten math book, which covered patterns. I'm sure you recognize Lindsay Ann and Hailey by now. Emeline and Cassidy were in bed.
These next few pictures are to show off the quilt top I finished sewing for Miriam's bed. Lindsay Ann cut out all the squares (for both Emeline's and Miriam's quilts--have I mentioned she's amazing??), and I let Miriam lay out her squares however she wanted, and then I sewed them together.
Underneath the new quilt top, you get a tantalizing hint of what the first quilt I made for Miriam looks like. I still love it, but unfortunately, my daughter likes to pick at herself and therefore, the quilt is covered in blood stains and pen and whatever else Miriam has managed to get all over it. Besides, it is too pastel for Emeline (now, I'd hate to see Mom's reaction if she ever read that previous sentence!). Emeline is a bright colors elf-child.
My sister Amy (otherwise known as Martha Stewart: only cheaper and better) is helping me decorate the kids' rooms and was a little annoyed that I went above her head and bought this fabric, but when I saw it at Hobby Lobby I couldn't resist. Talk about perfect for my girls and their soon to be "dress-up themed bedroom." I have no idea what that means yet, but when Amy gets here next week (YEAH), I'll probably find out!
I'm taking lots of before/after pictures to help Amy start her decorating business. I don't think the strange creature on the bed is part of the decorating scheme.
In other news, Lindsay Ann came out Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to help me get ready for the big Finish Kids' Bedrooms Project.
On Tuesday, Lindsay watched my kids while I ran errrands. On Wednesday, we cleaned out most of the weeds around the back downstairs windows and started digging window-wells.
This picture is Lindsay having all the kids wash the donut stickiness off their fingers in the neighbor's sprinkler. Good strategy.
Also on Wednesday we labeled and put away all my case lot purchases and cleaned up the store room.
On Thursday--more weeds and window-well digging.
Then we made donuts. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that her mom's recipe made about a gazillion donuts. We were forced to let the kids eat four each and then we ate . . . well, let's not get into that.
I liked the ones with sugar and cinnamon on the top. We filled some with choco pudding and lemon pudding and a raspberry/cream cheese mixture. They were all good--but the sugar were the best.
Just an FYI: donuts were made to be eaten while they still burn your mouth. The next day they just weren't as good.
Although Timothy did manage to eat a "few" when he got back from Price. Yes, my man is home. YEEHAW!!
