That has now ended.
I got out of bed late this morning. I know, that is dangerous since the kids aren't locked up right now due to construction, but I had a warm husband beside me, okay.
When I went out to gather them up, they had drawn with crayon all over the fridge and a little on the wall. Not too terrible, I thought, since both Miriam and Cowen are familiar with the intricate workings of a magic eraser.
Then I saw the broken glass from the frame of the elaborate cross-stitch my aunt Marla made for me that is beautiful. Okay, I thought--it is in one location, not too terrible to clean up. We can't afford to replace the glass just now, but we have nowhere to put the picture right now anyway. Deep breaths and it was fine.
Then there was the normal stuff--fighting, running around, normal crazy family/Mom stuff. No problem.
But I was tired, so I went and laid down by Tim for a minute (he was sending out resumes on the laptop in the bedroom) but ten minutes later I reemerged because the kids sounded too happy. That is when I discovered the hair on the floor.
Miriam had asked Cowen for a hair cut.
I can't talk about it yet.
Do not write any encouraging comments--I don't want to hear it. It was bad enough that Timothy had the poor judgment to say, "It's just hair." No, it isn't. It is red hair. And now it is no longer attached to her head.

Okay. I do have one comment, though.
We watched Anne of Green Gables last night. And Sunday night. There was much talk about red hair on there.
I don't know what that has to do with your post......just decided now that it was such a coincidence that your post was about red hair...the same time we were talking about red hair here at our house.
Just wanted to let you know---although this is probably poor timing--your kids are maniacs. On the flipside though, mom likes to think that when they are difficult children, they'll be angel teenagers. This could be the worst you have to face! Still, glad I'm not you right now. But give me five years, and I will be calling you, and you will be laughing, because your kids will be past that stage! Haahaa
Ok, no uplifting comments, I am just glad that my kids aren't the only ones that give eachother haircuts!! At least it cut off into a "bob" nicely.
Andrea you make me laugh! I really enjoy reading your blog. My grandson and daughter did the same thing to Savanah's hair only it was really really really short. Jared and Steph ( their parents )were not impressed. And it will grow faster than my 'black' daughters hair. Theirs grows exteremly slow.
Ha Ha sucker!!! That will teach you for sleeping in and forgetting to chain up your kids last night and for not turning on your shocking lazers all over the house that keep your kids from getting into bad things!!! Either way, i agree with tim, it's just hair, and what doesnt kill you makes you stronger i guess! Or you might die, one or the other!!
I'm so sorry Andrea. I feel for you. So much lost. Ahnika did it just when hers was getting beautiful and easy. She only had a half inch left when the cut was done. Good luck.
Julie
