Good Things

Today we put up the Christmas stockings!!! YEAH!! For some people, it is all about the tree, or the chocolates (can't argue with those people), or the shopping.

For me it is the music and the stockings. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Christmas stockings.

Last night, after the hair fiasco, I ate a lot of chocolate and unwound by watching the first half of the Colin Firth Pride and Prejudice, which I hadn't watched before. It is fabulous!! Perfectly cast--I'm loving it. While I was watching, I finished Brigham's stocking. Nothing could have eased my tension better. It turned out so cute.

However, as you can see in the first picture, the stocking is such a dark green that the black shoes don't show up on the drummer boy. Timothy thinks I should sew a gold stitch outlining the shoes. Any thoughts?

This doesn't have to do with stockings but isn't it weird that these bumps showed up on one of Cowen's legs? Any ideas what it is?

Six stockings this year! So exciting!! You can't see it in the picture, but I write the names on the top of the stockings in gold paint. I'm waiting for Brigham to be born and officially named before I do that.

This is Brigham's drummer boy stocking.

Usually, Timothy doesn't let me put up any Christmas decorations until after American Thanksgiving and while I whine about it--I let him have his way. This year, I told him I needed a little Christmas more than he needed to follow the calendar. He tried to hedge, but I said that I would put them up myself (I did that last year, and they weren't even) if he didn't. He gave in fairly graciously.

This is the gold trim--it is a braid if you can't tell--for Lindsay Ann's sake. She saw the two different ribbons I was choosing from and didn't like either. Neither did I. So I took a trip to Hobby Lobby and found this. Much better.

Ooo!!!! I love it! Such talent. I too love to put up our Christmas Stockings all in a row. I do not know how to make them though. SO they are just boughten ones.

However.....I STILL put up ALL (Stockings) of them even though two of them (Kids) have moved out. It just isn't the same if I take those two out of the equation.

I have NO idea what those bumps are on Cowen's leg. DO they just appear on ONE leg? How strange???

Normally when it is just on one leg, and looks like those bumps (and this is just a poor guess based an a not great photo) it is insect bites of some sort.

I want to make stockings, but have been unable to commit to one pattern. Love you, love christmas, can't believe how many stockings you need.

I think you could use some dark/medium gray thread to outline the soilder's shoes to give them more definition. The stockings are darling! I love them!

Sorry about Miriam's hair. Brooklyn experiemented with scissors a year ago and we had to chop off only 3-4 inches, not like 6-8 on Miriam. It was hard to see Brooklyn with short hair for a while. The chunk she cut off, practically next to her scalp, is still filling in and trying to catch up with the rest. I'm thinking since it's been a day or two, that you might be ready for some encouraging words: you just said a few days ago that Miriam was constantly chewing on her haif and you thought about cutting it. Now I know that wasn't real, but you have to be careful what you "wish" for... Don't hurt me!! The real tragety was the red hair part. So sorry.
