Not Quite Ready to Catch Up

I realize it has been about 100 years since I last posted, but I have lots of good reasons (excuses). First, our computer freaked out and won't let us boot it up. Since my dad's computer guru has been out of the office this week--there has been no one to help me with the beloved (dang) thing. All of Cowen's birthday pictures, including his horse cake which I am excited to show off, are trapped in the computer as I delete all pics off my camera when I load them.

So there was that. Then there was the fact that I freaked out and had to paint my living room this weekend. I couldn't wait another minute. We took the orange couch downstairs and the lime green poof and all of sudden there was a COLOR VACUUM. No color anywhere. I couldn't handle it. So I painted four walls bright/bold mustardy yellow/gold. Think 70s.

It was too much. So then I painted one of those walls white. Ugh. White is a terrible choice for a wall. So then I painted two of the other gold walls back to their original color. I really don't want to discuss Timothy's reaction to my "tinkering with the color." So now I have one gold wall and half a gold wall and the rest of the walls are back to the original color. However, by Monday night I will have two gold walls and it will be PERFECT. I love the color. I am IN LOVE with the color. Ah, color. I need it like Timothy needs windows and sunlight and me. He's like a cat. We lived in a basement apartment for all of a few months and he was already going a little crazy. I have pics to prove it.

In other news, we moved the toy kitchen downstairs, and the hall coat closet thingy to Eli's room and put up one of my new Billy bookcases (see Ikea if you have no clue what I'm talking about). I LOVE BILLY!! What could be better than color and books all in the same blessed space?? I can pretend I'm a cat and curl up next to my golden wall with one of my favorite books and eat some of the delicious chocolate cake I just made and stay there all day.

Except I have children.

So I won't.

Still, I would if I could.

I'll post pictures ASAP (after the painting is done and the house brought back under a modicum of control and diapers and wipes are purchased--I don't want to even talk about the three diapers I dealt with this morning).

And now I'm going to take a leaf from Becky's book and go snuggle up next to my husband and get some sleep. Tomorrow is another busy, busy day--with lots of paint fumes to keep me happy in a doped up sort of way. Yeehaw!

oh, you funny girl. i wish i could paint like that...if i don't like it, keep on going until i find the right color...i tend to run out of steam, energy, time, babysiters, etc...and have to make do with what we have...which is an entire house in Navajo White...boring, yellowish cream. but my house is tiny and i'm so scared of color in my teeny tiny little rooms...what's a girl to do?...by the way, missed you.

Yeah you are back! I knew if you painted it would be a wonderful 70s goldenrod. I have been meaning to give you a call- but well you know. I may be going to Ireland for 13 days- if the high school decides I am an apropriate chaperone (apparently being a sister makes me suspicious- like I might go bar hopping with the kids and try to be "Cool" HAHAHA They don't know what a kill joy/old lady I am). So we will see. The trip is in two weeks, so they have to make up their minds pretty fast. I am freaking out a little about leaving my kids and weaning Beckett. Acckkkkk.
