Garden

Kami asked me to post some garden pictures.  This might be the best a garden of mine will ever look, so it probably should be recorded for posterity.  I wish I had pics of Grandpa Lloyd's garden.  In the first picture Miriam is holding up one of our onions.  They are so yummy!
Here are some of the beans.  The first beans we planted didn't do much so we replanted.  Apparently beans prefer it to be a little warmer.
 I think those are raspberries.
Miriam by the cherry tomato plant that is as tall as she is.
Some of the crazy tomatoes that are taking over the world.
More crazy tomatoes taking over the world.  My mom just told me that you can trim tomatoes.  Who knew?  Besides . . . her.
The original bean planting plus some carrots, onions, and lettuces.
The carrots, peppers, onions.  The peppers went crazy this year.  The kids have been eating the bell peppers like apples.
We grew broccoli.  It was yummy.
 More peppers.
This watermelon cracks my kids up.  The watermelon is growing in our neighbor's yard so the kids talk constantly about how funny is it that they will have to ask permission to get their watermelon.

 Baby cantaloupe.
 Blackberries.
 Raspberries.
Peaches.  Dad thinks I need to thin out my peach tree so I'll have to learn how to do that this fall, but we have the most peaches this year than we've ever gotten.  Yeah!!!

And there you have--the garden.

So far I've done 24 quarts of green beans (some came from mom's garden aka The Garden of Eden) and 11 quarts of beets (all of them came from mom's garden).  Last year I did 42 quarts of green beans and we ran out in February.  I'm hoping I can find a local vegetable farmer to buy some extra green beans.  Tomatoes though--I'll have those coming out my ears.  For the last two weeks we've had enough for everyone to eat two or three or more every day, but when it explodes--I don't know that I'll be able to keep up.  I'm pretty sure we'll be eating tomato and bacon sandwiches every day for supper, though.

This looks like the Garden of Eden to me. I wish we had half of those tomatoes! Mine are weak, lame, and sickly. :(

WOw. Your garden DOES look like Great Uncle Loyd's would. Beautiful!

Oh and yes......not only can you prune your tomato plants......but in doing so.....more "energy" goes to the tomatoes left growing on the plant and you get HUGE tomatoes as opposed to a whole lot of smaller ones. ; ) Just something I learned from someone else a few years ago. And it works!
