Timothy's boss at his old job brought in some pickled peppers he had bottled (I miss that boss--he was a foodie and we would chat about food via Tim--at least, it felt that way to me) and Timothy loved them! He also loved the hard-boiled eggs that his boss put into the pepper juice once the peppers were gone. After a week you had jalapeño-pickled eggs. I haven't tried them. I like my spicy in curry and spicy steak salad, etc, but not hot peppers so much (although my sister Amy makes a great jalapeno popper recipe).
This year, to please my hubby, I pickled peppers and taught my children the pickled peppers tongue-twister. Later, Timothy made a batch. Again, I haven't tried any of the pickled peppers but Timothy did and he liked them. Yay. I told Timothy I was retiring from the field of battle as I needed to get going on school so he bottled some jars of salsa and today he made some hot sauce. The hot sauce made my eyes sting just from being in the same kitchen as it. Good luck eating that, boy-o.
Tomorrow I do pears and then the day after that I'll do peach jam, but then I really am done for the season. School is in session and this teacher needs to focus!

I am having an understandably poor canning summer. Canning is pretty low on my overwhelming list. But I did make some blackberry jam (free berries in CA! come and get them) and some lemon fig balsamic compote that I imagined myself. I then made goat cheese tarts and put that on them and it was divine!!!!! Also tomorrow I am going to make some roasted tomatillo salsa since my massage therapist left me a pile of them on my doorstep. Lovely lady that she is. Earlier she gave me a ton of rasberries (yellow ones!) but I am afraid the boys and I gobbled up the 2 pints before we even got home, because we are gluttons. I think your children need to do a study on the gold rush and come to CA and I can show them very cool things= weeks worth right by my house and you and I can pick blackberries and make jam and syrup.
The end I should go to bed.
Also I got 2nd degree burns from my very little canning this year.
Wow. Super mom. I'm jealous.
Yeah for canning season! Your produce looks great and so colorful. You are brave to make pickled peppers. It's good to have Tim help you out too. What a great guy.
You are ALWAYS so productive and efficient of your time Andrea. I'm always so amazed at how much you get done.
