Home Production Retirement

In the past three days (not today--today I read a really awesome book and let Miriam make pear grumble and ignored everything else) I bottled 46 quarts of pears and 47 quarts of peaches and made 6 batches of peach freezer jam.  I was also on my feet Tuesday night being in charge of the Annual Free Market--a garage sale in our cultural hall at church where everything is free.  It is awesome.  But exhausting.

By Wednesday night my feet hurt, my back hurt, my stomach hurt.  You see why today was a day of rest.  I'm loving Lupica.  I just finished Game-Changer about an 11 year-old football player and it was fabulous.  I'm buying all his books.

So my grand totals so I can look it up for next year: 80 or so quarts of green beans, 11 quarts of beets, 9 quarts of chokecherry jelly, 24 quarts of tomatoes, 14 quarts of pickled peppers (although Tim did half),  3 quarts of salsa (also Tim), 3 little jars of hot sauce (also Tim), 47 quarts peaches, 46 quarts pears.

And now I retire from the field of battle to focus on my children's education.  Wish me luck.
