Princess T-Ball

Miriam's t-ball game was extra hilarious tonight. First, allow me to reiterate that Miriam runs like a girl. In fact, "running" might be overstating it. "Mincing quickly" might be more accurate. I say this despite the fact that on public radio today was a talk show about sexist slurs in the arena of sports including things like "run like a girl" or "throw like a girl." I'm being factual and if that makes me sexist, so be it.

To reiterate my point, during today's game when Miriam was up at bat, numerous spectators from our team's crowd yelled, "Go Cinderella! Whack it Cinderella!" Uh, it really IS that obvious that she's a princess.

During the last inning, Miriam played shortstop in her usual dreamy style of play which involved her turning in circles, pulling her glove on and off, throwing her hat on the ground and then putting it back on her head, etc. Nobody hit anything out to her all inning until the last batter. Smacked it right to her feet (a nice hit for t-ball). Miriam dropped to her knees by the ball and spent the next four minutes trying to get her arm back through the sleeve of her shirt. Her coach stood behind her and laughed the whole time. When she was finally re-clothed, she picked up the ball and threw it about two feet in the general direction of the pitcher, who managed to get it and throw it to the catcher some time after the last batter had made it home.

I had no idea t-ball was going to be so much fun for me.
